Wait, you can go beyond beyond? Yes, yes you can.
Why?
First things first, you can't make it a reasonable, achievable goal to raise $34,000 in one year unless you've got the strength and numbers to attempt such a feat. This was the goal of our district, CNH KIWINS, in the year of 2015-2016. So I hope that tells you that a) KIWINS is a HUGE organization (spanning all over California no less) b) as the name implies, the organization -especially one as large as ours- needs to be very organized to coordinate and work properly.
And thus, we have for you the opportunity to go beyond beyond by becoming a member of divisional board, district board, and if you're really deep in it, international board. The system is set up such that the information and data from our largest level of organization -clubs- becomes synthesized and concentrated at the next level -divisions- where that data and reports are concentrated even further for the next level -district- and lastly all that concentrated, carefully collected information is brought to the las t level -international. Positions range from divisional chairs to Lieutenant Governors (heads of each division) to committee members and the District Governor - and yes, anyone can apply for any of these positions.

How?
1. Apply for higher positions
At this point in time, applications for leadership positions beyond club level are all closed. Elections take place at the end of each term year so unfortunately you've missed your chance to run for the year of 2016-2017. However, this means you now have ample time to build your experience and test out the waters to see if KIWINS is right for you. Attend events, find out how you can get more involved in your club, attend divisional meetings (open to all members) such as the monthly DCM at Rady Children's Hospital. In essence, plunge yourself into the world of KIWINS in preparation for your chance to apply for bigger, better things with us. |
2. Go to ICON
ICON is just like DCON, but on an international level. This summer, our LTG Megan Modina attended ICON in Atlanta Georgia. There, they celebrated a year of hard work, attended informative skill building sessions, listened to amazing speeches, and even vote on proposed amendments that would affect all districts in the international family. Depending on where it will be held, it can get on the pricey side of things and it does last an entire week as opposed to DCON's 3 days. There is honestly so much you can gain from attending such an amazing convention, so much that I can't explain it myself. The best I can do is direct you here to a place where hopefully they can give you little more information than I can about this amazing, awe inspiring event. |
3. Continue your membership beyond high school
Now if you thought your work with KIWINS, KEY Club, Kiwanis, etc was over as soon as graduated, you'd be very very wrong. Not only does this organization span across the globe, it also reaches every demographic of our population. Circle K, available in all or most of our UC's, is the college student version of ourselves. They have their own mission and goals, however I've also seen them helping out as things like security and organizers for DCON. It doesn't stop there either, Kiwanians are adult versions of ourselves, having continued to dedicate their time and resources to the mission and goals of their respective organization. As you can imagine, the older you get the more you can do. So if you thought KIWINS was fun, just wait till you see what you can do beyond your high school years. |
